Allegations: Failing to adequately disclose the actual odds of getting loot boxes with valuable items
In March 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Activision Blizzard alleging that the age-rating for the video game “Overwatch” fails to disclose that the game uses loot boxes, which according to the complaint, is a form of gambling and violates California’s anti-gambling laws. (Dadmun et al v. Activision Blizzard, Inc., Case No. 37-2020-00020000, California State Court – San Diego)
