Class Action

Netgear’s NAS Devices

In March 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Netgear for allegedly falsely advertising its Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. Specifically, the plaintiffs claim that the company promises that the devices provide “5 levels of protection” and safeguard consumers’ files when, according to the complaint, the company triggered a command to delete consumers’ data in March 2017. Plaintiffs also claim that the files were deleted without any notification to the consumers and the files could not be recovered. (Sassine et al v. Netgear, Inc., Case No. 18-cv-1821, N.D. Cal.)
