In November 2019, a class-action lawsuit was filed against H Mart for allegedly misleadingly advertising that the flavoring in its mochi vanilla ice cream desserts comes exclusively from vanilla ingredients when, according to plaintiffs, the ingredient list shows that the desserts do not contain any vanilla ingredients but rather contain “Artificial Vanilla Flavor.” (King et al v. H Mart, Inc., Case No. 19-cv-6736, E.D.N.Y.)
