In May 2020, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Federal Warranty Service and Lowe’s Home Centers for allegedly deceptively marketing Lowe’s Protection Plans as extended – or additional – warranty plans for merchandise purchased at Lowe’s stores when, according to plaintiffs, the defendants do not adequately disclose the terms of the plans and the terms “severely restrict and contradict the seemingly broad coverage.” (Fritz et al v. Federal Warranty Service Corp. and Lowe’s Home Centers, LLC, Case No. 20-cv-2210, N.D. Ga.)
