Class Action

KitchenAid Stand Mixer

In September 2014, a state judge preliminarily approved a settlement of a false advertising class-action lawsuit against Whirlpool Corporation. The complaint alleged, among other things, that the marketing materials for and labels on certain KitchenAid brand mixers misleadingly indicated that the mixers operate at 1.3 horsepower when they actually do not have this level of power. According to the settlement terms, the company agreed to include more accurate information and explain the horsepower of its mixers on the packaging and in the marketing materials for the mixers, among other things. The settlement does not provide any monetary compensation to the class members. For more information, go to www.MixerSettlement.com. (Bornstein et al v.
