2015: A class-action lawsuit was filed against gas station Valero Energy for allegedly misleading consumers who pay with debit cards by charging them the higher price advertised for credit card purchases when, according to plaintiffs, debit cards are like cash because the money is withdrawn immediately and consumers who pay with debit cards should be charged the lower price advertised for cash payments.
