November 2020: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Canada Goose US, Inc. for allegedly falsely marketing that the fur used in its clothing has been ethically and sustainably sourced in accordance with humane trapping standards when, according to the complaint, the company’s fur suppliers use cruel methods that harm animals. Plaintiffs also claim that Canada Goose falsely represents that its fur suppliers are “strictly regulated by state, provincial and federal standards” when, according to plaintiffs, the company purchases fur from trappers that operate in jurisdictions that do not regulate the methods used for slaughtering trapped animals or the types of traps used.
