In April 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against for-profit school Capella University for allegedly operating a bait-and-switch doctoral degree program. Specifically, plaintiffs claim that the school misleadingly represents the time and cost it takes doctoral students to complete a degree at the university when, according to the complaint, the university designed the doctoral programs to take longer than it promised students.
