Discounts at Lamps Plus
August 2018: Plaintiffs moved for preliminary approval of a proposed settlement agreement that provides class members with vouchers from Lamps Plus. The company will automatically send vouchers to class members who receive email or mail notice of the settlement terms while class members who do not receive individual notice of the settlement must file a claim form to receive a voucher. Vouchers will give class members the option of receiving $18 off of a purchase, 20% off of the purchase of an item valued at less than $150, or a $30 credit toward the purchase of an item valued at over $150. The company also agreed to post notices to clarify and explain the meaning of the phrase “Compare At” on its price tags.
August 2017: The lawsuit was transferred to federal court. (Case No. 17-cv-1602, S.D. Cal.)
July 2017: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Lamps Plus for allegedly misleadingly marketing pricing discounts by comparing “substantially discounted” prices to false regular prices to make consumers believe they are receiving steep discounts when they are actually paying the regular price. (Seegert et al v. Lamps Plus, Inc. and Does 1-50, Case No. 37-2017-00024439, California State Court – San Diego)
