November 2015: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Kate Spade and Company for allegedly misrepresenting the existence, nature, and amount of price discounts of Kate Spade Outlet products. According to the complaint, the store misrepresented retail prices because they did not represent the original retail prices and were not the prevailing market retail prices for such products within the three months immediately before the advertisement, as required by California law. (Plaintiffs filed an amended complaint August 2016.) (Pickles et al v. Kate Spade and Company and Does 1-50, Case No. 15-cv-5329, N.D. Cal.)
