Class Action

Defenders, Inc. Emails

In September 2019, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Defenders, Inc. alleging that the company, which sells and installs home security systems, sends misleading emails to consumers. Specifically, plaintiffs claim that the subject line of the emails state “Your ADT Monitored free* offer has arrived” while a lengthy disclosure in small font in the body of the email reveals that consumers must actually pay monthly fees for the company’s services. (George et al v. Defenders, Inc., Case No. 19-cv-1822, M.D. Fla.)
