Allegations: Falsely marketing that products are made with “clean ingredients” and do not contain ingredients on Ulta’s “Made Without List” when they contain numerous ingredients on the list
In January 2018, a false advertising class-action lawsuit was filed against Ulta Beauty for allegedly selling used cosmetics as if they were new. According to the complaint, cosmetics that have been returned to the store are repackaged and resealed to look like new products and then sold at full price as if they were new. (Smith-Brown et al v. Ulta Beauty, Inc., Case No. 18-cv-610, N.D. Ill.)
