July 2018: A state court judge granted final approval of a settlement agreement that would provide class members who file valid claims with the option to receive either a $25 cash award or a $50 promotional code to be used toward the purchase of a Chippewa product. In addition, the company agreed to qualify its Made in USA representations but only for a period of five years and to make corrective announcements on its website and in newspapers telling consumers that parts of the boots are manufactured outside of the United States.
March 2015: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Justin Brands for allegedly misleadingly marketing Chippewa Boots as being “handcrafted in the USA” when, according to plaintiffs, the inner, leather linings of the boots are made in China.
