Schweppes and Canada Dry Ginger Ales
Allegations: Misleadingly marketing that products contain natural flavors without disclosing that they also contain artificial flavors
In July 2018, a class-action lawsuit was filed against Dr Pepper Snapple Group alleging that the company falsely markets its Canada Dry Ginger Ale as being “Made with Real Ginger” when, according to plaintiffs, the soda does not contain real ginger. The complaint also alleges that the company adds a small amount of ginger flavor extract in order to market the soda as a healthy alternative to other soft drinks when, according to plaintiffs, Canada Dry Ginger Ale has the same high sugar content as other sodas.
