November 2018: A class-action lawsuit was filed against the marketers of ASUS laptops with USB 3.0 Gen 1 ports for allegedly falsely advertising that the laptops are capable of transferring 5 gigabits of data per second when, according to plaintiffs, the laptops’ USB ports transfer data at less than half of the advertised speed (or about 2,160 megabits per second). (Brekhus et al v. ASUS Computer International, Case No. CGC-18-571553, California State Court – San Francisco)
