TINA.org investigated Shapes, Inc, an online platform that offers AI-powered chatbot companions, and found that it markets its platform to users as young as 13 years old as safe when they can be exposed to explicit, abusive or illegal content. The platform also misleadingly advertises its AI models as free, uses a problematic “auto top-up” feature, and employs deceptive endorsements as a marketing tool.
