Legacy Cremation Services
TINA.org investigated Legacy Cremation Services and found that it was deceptively marketing funeral and cremation services in violation of multiple court orders, including a Stipulated Order entered in a case filed against it by the DOJ on behalf of the FTC in federal court.

TINA.org together with the Consumer Federation of American and the Funeral Consumers Alliance send a complaint letter to the FTC and DOJ alerting them that Legacy Cremation Services is violating a 2023 Stipulated Order and requesting that the FTC reopen its investigation into the company’s marketing and take appropriate enforcement action.
TINA.org sends a copy of the complaint letter to Legacy, as well as more than a dozen states that have also filed enforcement actions against the company.

A stipulated order is entered in the DOJ’s and FTC’s lawsuit requiring the Legacy defendants to pay civil penalties and abide by strict requirements on how they communicate with consumers.

The DOJ, on behalf of the FTC, sues Legacy Cremation Services and related entities in federal court for misrepresenting their location and prices, illegally threatening and failing to return cremated remains to consumers, and failing to provide disclosures required by the Funeral Rule.
