Nobl’s Carry-On

This marketing may come with some baggage.

There’s a lot to worry about when it comes to air travel these days – long security lines, missed connections, lost baggage and more. One thing that may be even scarier to some? Waiting at the airport without a charged phone.

Thankfully luggage company Nobl claims its all-in-one carry-on suitcase includes a phone charger so you can “stay powered on the go.”

But don’t “say goodbye to outlets just yet” because this could leave you out of juice, as TINA.org discovered.

Despite Nobl promoting the suitcase’s charging capabilities, if you look a little closer, it also states that this feature works “by connecting your power bank.” What this means is that in order to charge your phone, you would have to provide your own energy source (like a portable charger) because the carry-on doesn’t actually include a battery.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, this has caused some frustration for some consumers who thought this suitcase could “charge on the fly” all on its own.

But that’s not all.

Nobl also advertises a 100-day returns guarantee. However, in certain places on its website, often concealed unless consumers click to open a drop-down section, the company clarifies that returns are for unused items only. Further, according to Nobl’s returns and refunds policy, consumers must request a refund within just seven days of receiving the product to qualify, not the touted 100 days, which only applies to the amount of time consumers have to ship the product back.

If that’s not confusing enough, the company provides different refund policy information at checkout. There, the company states that consumers have 30 days to request a refund.

And even if you do successfully initiate a return, Nobl will charge you a 5% restocking fee. What’s more, the company will not pay for return shipping, which, according to some consumer reviews on TrustPilot, may not leave you with much left over:

The bottom line

When shopping online always make sure to carefully read through all the information about a product, including any applicable terms and conditions. Reading through consumer reviews can also sometimes be helpful.
