‘Bet Now’: How Wagering Apps’ Push Notification Ads Bombard Consumers
TINA.org joins petition urging FTC to require consent and opt-out for gambling marketing.
TINA.org joined the National Consumers League, the Campaign for Fairer Gambling, the National Council on Problem Gambling and the Public Health Advocacy Institute in filing a petition asking the FTC to adopt a rule requiring sports betting and prediction market apps to obtain consumers’ consent before sending marketing push notifications, provide an easy way to opt out of that marketing without losing important account alerts, and disclose the frequency of marketing notifications the app delivers to consumers who provide consent.
