The Fees for “Advanced TV”

March 2016: A federal judge granted Cox Communication’s motion to compel arbitration finding that the parties agreed to arbitrate disputes. The Court also stayed the action in the case pending the outcome of arbitration.

May 2015: A class-action lawsuit was filed against Cox Communications for allegedly misleadingly advertising the fees for its Advanced TV services (i.e., “bundles” of cable, television, Internet, and phone services). The complaint, which was transferred to federal court in July 2015, alleges, among other things, that the company misleadingly advertises a price for the services that does not include all of the monthly fees and confuses consumers by labeling the additional, unauthorized charges “Advanced TV.” (Yousif et al v. Coxcom, LLC, Cox Communications California, LLC, and Does 1-100, Case No. 15-cv-1499, S. D. CA.)
