Lifetime Memberships to Silver Wings

In March 2018, a federal judge granted summary judgment in a class-action lawsuit against United Continental Holdings regarding its discounts program for seniors called Silver Wings. According to the 2016 complaint, the airline misrepresented that the Lifetime Membership to Silver Wings would be “Valid Thru Life” when, according to plaintiffs, the airline terminated the program in 2007 and Lifetime Members did not receive notice of the termination and were not offered any type of refund. The judge granted summary judgment finding that the named plaintiff provided no evidence showing that he was harmed by the alleged misrepresentation. (Neft et al v. United Continental Holdings, Inc. and United Airlines, Inc., Case No. 16-cv-765, N.D. Ill.)
